Has someone in your life helped give you the confidence to pursue your dream?
There are so many people who’ve shaped our lives – parents, teachers, friends, and family members. But if you think on it, no doubt there’s someone who stands out among them. Someone who has always supported you and given you the confidence to believe in your own, unique possibilities. Maybe it was Dad – maybe it was someone else special. Whoever they are, one thing is for certain: their role in helping you pursue your dreams is like no other!
So, whether you’re dropping a card in the mail, or planning to spend a day together, find inspiration for telling Dad – or that special person – just how much they’ve done for you.
Thank them for challenging you.
Whether it was a debating viewpoints over the dinner table, expecting high marks on your report card, or pushing you to try something you were afraid of, dads have always been the ones to help us strive to be our best selves. While we may not have appreciated it at the time, they were the first to challenge us to think differently, exercise patience and overcome our obstacles.
Thank them for encouraging your inner-explorer.
Discovering new interests, passions and dreams are a huge part of growing up. And dads were right there in the background supporting our curiosity. They helped us try new things, uncover our talents and shortcomings, and form our own opinions. With their support, we discovered the DNA of who we are as individuals.
Thank them for dishing out tough love.
Fell off your bike and skinned your knee? Pick yourself up and try again. Failed a test? Study harder. By never letting us settle, our dads taught us a valuable lesson─that pursuing what matters most takes resilience and hard work.
Thank them for showing you how to be fearless.
When it was time to face the bully on the playground, our dads were behind us encouraging us to face our obstacles with our heads held high. Whether it was taking the high road, not stooping to a lower level, or fighting back, they equipped us with the courage to look our fears squarely in the eye.
Thank them for loving unconditionally.
Our hardest moments. Our proudest achievements. Dads have been by our side through them all. It’s what gives us the confidence to pursue a lifetime of fearless dreaming─and for that we’re grateful.
